The server should be stamped with indicators on the fans. That should lead you to the failed part.

Is the server operating?

I'd be careful operating it with a fan offline.

HP Hardware should be contacted.

Hi Chassis Fan No 1 is one of the small fans on the metal case which cools the PCI board, etc.

You can have a look at the systemboard and locate the fan connector labeled CHA_Fan 1. It's located left of the memory DIMM slots. just follow the cable to the fan and you've found the bad guy ;-)

Unfortunately HP doesn't sell these fans as a sparepart, you'll have to swap the whole server chassis....

Yes, Chassis Fan 1 is one of the 40mm fans blowing away from the PCI slot.

I would recommend purchasing a fan here:

http://www.directron.com/ec4010m12ca.html?gsear=1

its $3.99+ shipping... get two, and put the spare one in the case.

or if you never want to worry about it again:

http://www.directron.com/ixp1314.html
its $10.99

Yours....
