Hi Everyone,

We would appreciate it if you posted the highlights and successes you've had while using the Business Support Forums. For example, have you:

1. Posted a question and received a key answer that solved your problem?

2. Viewed a message thread that another forum member posted that had a solution to a problem you were trying to solve?

3. Found these discussion groups to be of particular help in sharing information, exchanging best practices, or saving you time?

We'd really like to hear from everyone -- your circumstances, the issue(s), the outcome, who was of help, time saved, etc.!

If you have examples to share, please provide the URL of the thread if possible. Thanks in advance for your input!

Regards,

Gary

I am sorry you have not had a great response but I would like to record here for the record that HP have been wonderful in helping owners of the XT983 and in particular GREAT GARY the major part you have played in that success.

On the third point Gary, I think the iPaq forum is a perfect example of camaraderie and people joining together for a common cause, to help everybody. While at times things do get a little too carried away, it is definitely not your Tech Support guys reading a script on the other end of the phone. We have all greatly learned from each other, which is demonstrated even by some of the questions we came into the forum to ask, and some of the first questions we attempted to answer.

We also have realized the potential of the other members, quite often citing, you should really talk to such and such about this problem. The fact that we have spent enough time to realize the strengths of each other, when we have never really spoken outside of chips and ROMS and RAMS, is a redeeming aspect of humanity. I think if whatever was let loose there would spread to the rest of the forums there would be a lot more happiness and success. I’m saddened with how many people are angry at the response they get because its not what they want to hear, and they want to last out, but time and time again returning to my main area of expertise has proven to be rewarding.
Thanks

Though I have had success stories of my own problems,I have to say that the most memorable for me was the one of Richard recovering cherished photos from the hdd of a dead XT983.He posted in despair and went from novice to 'expert' within that thread, removing the hdd and courageously putting it into a new pc to recover the photos.
He also later went on to get an HP repair of this machine, which was a sucess story of it's own,but the joy of recovering photos he feared were lost, has not been matched.

During the use of the 36xx, 3870 and 5450 this forum has been an invaluable source of information to me.
I have received answers to my questions just by browsing these forums.
I have been able to ask questions and receive a direct answer.
My own experience has proved useful to help other users experiencing the same issues.
This forum is the best resource available for HP PDA users.
This kind of support and the feeling there is always some HP Rep watching is just amazing!
This forum is the greatest!

Though only a recent poster, I have been reading the forum for years. I have always found a ready answer to any question I have had. I commend most forum users on their dedication to helping one another out.

Gary,
Here is a success story.

I got lucky and actually helped out. But I have learned more than I will ever be able to pass along by hanging around this forum.

Thank you,
Jimmy

Hello Gary,

I saw this thread and couldn't help diving in! people were being quoted for new screens for Omnibook 6000's at a cost of about $1,000 when all they needed were the hinges replacing at a cost of about $15.

I found out the part numbers and posted some details and seemed to have saved a few 6000's from being sent to the Omnibook graveyard.

Stuart, I just wanted to say, that folks like yourself are a real credit to this site, because without your inside info (as it were) and donation of your time on this hinge problem, alot of people would be in financial straights over this, not to mention the ill will thats been put to rest.!

Good job.................................

Hi... seeing this thread just reminded me that I had sent in a success story in response to the Ipod giveaway in HP's "Technology at Work" e-newsletter.

I think the results and winners were to come out in December -- does anyone know if the winners have been announced? As far as I know, I haven't received a "Technology at Work" letter this month, I but I don't want to miss the announcement as I sure could use a 40G Ipod!

Thanks!

I've had success from day one that I requested assistance. Many were there to provide info.

And, I've had fun trying to do the same for others.

It's nice to be included and get involved.

Hello again Gary, I would have to say that my biggest highlight and successes happened the very day I first stummbled into this forum, on accident if I might add.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=748368

I could not believe the response I got. Charles & Steven are my mentors so far I think? Along with Cheryl & Richard close behind, I'll be the first to admit that I still have alot to learn, but with folks like these, it makes it even better.

Thanks Guy's & Gal's

As a follow up to my previous post, a little bit of a "non-success" story ... I got my email confirmation that I, in fact, was not one of the fortunate recipients of the 40g Ipod. Oh well. (Now accepting donations.)

Let me also add another $.02 -- though my questions to the forum have been few, I've always gotten helpful info. I've had my OB6k for several years now and would love to upgrade, but with the help and support I've gotten through these forums, it'll make me think twice before buying something else.

Gary,

The ability to search for previous similar problems have been very beneficial to me. It lets me find quick, proven solutions and to find out about some new add on producrs I didnt' know of. Some of my favorites are:

Hey everyone,
I am very highly impressed with the fact that so many people that have only recently purchased a product come to this forum and posting threads regarding their issues.I guess they see this forums as a very reliable source for troubleshooting, suggestions and assistance.
As far as my personal enjoyment- i think Saad has got a very good point regarding self-confidence for the succesfull helpers all over this forums.
