I have an old desktop which does not include the HP Laserjet 1200 in its list of standard drivers, so I need to find a driver suitable for Windows 98. Can you tell me where you can find drivers for the HP Laserjet 1200 for Windows 98? Help, I am desperate!

Here is something I found through HP

Hope this helps

HP LaserJet 1200 Product Family - Installing an Alternate Print Driver in Windows 98
The HP LaserJet 1200/1220 interprets the PCL language to the PCL6 level allowing the printer to utilize other HP LaserJet drivers provided by the Windows operating system. This provides backward compatibility with older Hewlett-Packard LaserJet printers. Perform the following steps to install the Windows print driver that is best suited to operate the LaserJet 1200 and 1220 printer models.

Close all applications, including virus checkers and TSRs (programs that run in the background).

Simultaneously press the CTRL, ALT, and DELETE keys on the keyboard to open the Close Program window.

Select a program from the list, and then click the End Task button at the bottom of the Window.

Repeat these steps until all programs except Windows Explorer and Systray are closed.

Click Cancel to close the program window.

Select Start, Settings and then Printers from the Windows desktop.

Double-click the Add Printer icon.

Click Next until the manufacturer and model selection screen appears.

Select "HP" in the left column and the "LaserJet 6L PCL" (or another printer in the list) printer in the right column and then click Next.

Select the appropriate port and click Next.

Select Yes to make this driver the default printer and click Next.

Click Finish.

NOTE: Insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM into the drive if prompted to do so and then click OK.

I agree with Brad. Ealier model laserjet drivers built in to 98 will work.

Just FYI: The reason you won't find 98 nor ME drivers on HP's site any longer is that Microsoft stopped allowing the distribution of MS components built in to the drivers, so HP pulled all the 98 and ME drivers off the site 6/30/07.

I assume Microsoft is attempting to put 98/ME behind them once and for all.

I have a Laserjet 1200 too, but I am using Windows XP as Operating System. Anyway any PCL, PCL5e, PCL6 or PostScript driver should work. Just do as suggested. Select any Laserjet driver with provides 600dpi.
