Author Subject: HP PrecisionScan LT Setup PopUp      Add to my favorites

I've had too many problems getting my XP and scanner compatible, so I've gotten rid of the scanner. However, I cannot get rid of a pop up error that says "HP PrecisionScan LT Setup...This program updates your HP Scanning Software. You may see a message about 'Digital Signature Not Found'. You must click 'Yes' for the update to install correctily.

I press OK, but it reappears within 10 seconds. It is SO annoying!!

I have uninstalled the scanner software and deleted any files associated with the program.

Can anyone help? THANKS!!

Hello, Melissa,

Is the PrecisionScan LT still listed in Add/Remove programs? If so, click remove and let it uninstall.

Once that's been performed, go to Start>Search
In the Seach box type Scanjet
Select Drive C and include subfolders box
Click on Search Button

Highlight and delete all files found

Next, search for the following two files

HPSC*
HPSC*

Highlight and Delete
Close Search Window

Double click on Recycle Bin and delete the contents

To install, do the following -

Copy the installation files to the Desktop

Insert the HP Scanjet Scanning software CD-ROM.

Exit the automatic installation menu when it appears.

In Windows XP, click Start, then My Computer.

Right-click the CD-ROM drive letter, then click Explore. The Windows Explorer window will open.

Right-click the English folder. Click Copy, then close Windows Explorer. The WindowsExplorer will close and the Desktop will reappear.

Right-click the Desktop. A popup window will appear. Click Paste. The Copying window will appear and copy the English folder to the Desktop.

Restart the Computer in Safe Mode -

Click Start, then Run. The Run window will open.

In the Open field, type MSCONFIG and click OK. The System Configuration Utility window will open.

Click the Boot.ini tab.

In the Boot Options section, select /SAFEBOOT and Minimal.

NOTE: Be sure to uncheck /SAFEBOOT after the installation has been successfully completed.

Click OK. The System Configuration windows will open. Click Restart. The computer system will restart in Safe Mode.

Once you're in Safe Mode,

Double-click SETUP.EXE. The file may be located in the English folder. Follow the screen prompts to install the scanning software.

NOTE: Click here if you would like more details about installing the scanner software in Safe Mode.

After the HP Scanjet scanning software has completed installing, shut down and turn off the computer system.

Reconnect the scanner to the computer system using the USB, parallel or SCSI interface cable, then plug in the scanner’s power cord.

Reconnect the scanner power cable to the scanner and power outlet.

Restart the computer system. The New Hardware prompt will open upon restarting the computer system and the necessary drivers will automatically install.
