I'm looking to upgrade my motherboard so I can hopefully get some new processing equipment. I was wondering whether or not the m8200n would support AM2+/AM2 boards or if it will only take AM2.

Thanks.

Ray, this is your motherboard:

Is this what you want to upgrade? If so, you don't have to worry about what the current system will support. You can buy any micro-ATX motherboard and install it into your case. You do, however, have to ensure that the stand-offs on the case match the holes on the motherboard.

Now, HP tatoos their motherboards. Therefore, you will not be able to use the existing 'Recovery Discs' that came with the computer. You will have to buy a standalone copy of Windows (Win7 suggested) and other software that you use.

If you will find a CPU/Processor that you want to buy, we can help you find the motherboard that is compatible with it. This is the way that I begin when I am building a new computer.

Also, if you are doing all of this upgrading, I suggest that you buy a new power supply unit (PSU). It would be good to buy one with at least 600W. This will allow you to add any video card that you want.

I know that this is allot of information to digest. So, if you have questions, let us know.
