I recently downgraded my Compaq SR5614F system from Vista to XP, so that my Tech illiterate father wouldn't have to relearn how to use Vista. But I can't seem to find a suitable driver for the DVDW drive which is a ts-h653z. Someone please help?

Normally, CD/DVDROMs, RW or not, are supposed to run with XP-native drivers. This said, your ts-h653z might necessitate a special piece of firmware. Try googling for the manufacturer's download service (Toshiba ?).
