This is a general question, why is HP driver support not up to the standard of sites such as Toshiba and Acer, searching for drivers, particulary, chipset and audio drivers is so difficult. Dummy board names, unlike Packard Bell who will list the makers board name.
I try to help on forums with driver problems, and I must admit my heart sinks when I see the model is HP,I know that the search will be difficult.Perhaps someone knows why HP make it so difficult.

You can find the link under "Support and Drivers" at the top of the forum page. Simply enter the model number and choose "Download drivers and software (firmware)".
Now, if you are talking about XP drivers, this is another story in itself. HP, not unlike many of the manufactures of pre-built home computers, has chosen not to provide these drivers. I would imagine it is based on their needs to support so many computers. It would be a nightmare for their "script readers" (aka support staff), to concern themselves with two separate operating systems.
I have that model and theres nothing at all in the drivers and software page for a card reader.... All the card slots show up as "Removable Disk" not "Compaq Flash E:" or what not like that... I just got done with chat and Pearl told me to insert my card into the card reader and that it would work and of course it didn't.... Nor did I think some magical fairy was gunna come out and sprinkle fairy dust on the card reader and then make it say "POOOF Compact Flash E:" LMAO!! I mean c'mon now what a joke... Thus once they advised me to do that chat was suddenly closed on my side, and I couldn't send anymore messages...
I just used the driver for the HP Pavilion A420N's card reader utility and it actually worked and now my card readers show up as the actual card types instead of Removable Disk 1, Removable Disk 2 and so on:
