To hard reset an iPAQ 111 (you won't find A or B in the manual, if you can find the manual):

A. While on
- press Win + OK + rec together
- while doing that, press reset button
and hold for 3-4 seconds
- release reset
- release buttons

The screen shows "CLEAN RESET" when
this works. It may take a while to
get it all right.

B. Or, if no go,
- leave battery out for 12 hours (?)

C. There is supposed to be a setup assistant
on the CD but I couldn't find that, and even
then, it needs the device to already be
working (doh!)

I found that pressing the wheel while doing a reset gets you to the bootloader. But I haven't found the hard reset combination yet.

Can you believe it? The 310 does not support a factory or clean reset. See what HP writes about it:

"NOTE: These products do not support a clean or factory reset. Customers who want to restore the device to factory default settings can do so by upgrading the ROM when updates are available."

Hmm. Wonder what happens if I force a hard reset through software...

To hard reset an iPAQ 114, you must :
- press and hold the 3 buttons Windows, OK and REC
- press the reset button for about 3 seconds and release it
- release the 3 buttons

The device will boot up and show a green message "CLEAN BOOT" down on the screen.

This method has been successfully tested.
