I am having problems with this brand new computer. The keyboard types the first letter you input twice most of the time. it needed new batteries the day I plugged it in and one day after putting in brand new batteries. I also have a delayed repsonse on typing very often. Anyone have same issues?

Seems that everyone has had trouble with wireless keyboards and mouse. It is cheaply made and HP will not fix it. I went out and purchased a Logitech setup and no problems. |

I had exactly the same problems - they seem quite common. I junked the keyboard and found a wired low-profile replacement that would fit in the slot. |

I purchased my IQ770 back in May and have been continually frustrated with this keyboard (missing characters, doubling others).
typing this message alone required numerous corrections for these conditions.
Andrew, what type of keyboard did you get, so I can benefit from your research? |

The keyboard is a battery chewing piece of junk, i was replacing with energizers every few weeks. Get rid of it and get the logitech s501, it cost me $100 aud new and it fits under the slot where the junker used to fit, its also cordless.
Hope this helps, wayne.
PS I'm very happy now |

I hate reading manuals... but my keyboard stopped working after only 3 days of very light usage. Googled and found this forum. Was not happy about reading some folks solution is to buy another BT or wired keyboard replacement.
Page 12 of manual pointed out the "Connect" button on front of computer. It is hidden under the Connectivity Center cover. Press it for 5 or so seconds... blinking.. then press the Connect button at bottom of keyboard, you have to wait for green blink on front left side of keyboard to know that you have a connection.
You have to do the same for mouse, only make sure mouse switch is "ON" and look for green blink.
Keyboard is still a bit flimsy. Might end up investing in a real keyboard/mouse afterall. |

HP repleced my keyboard x 2 fro my TouchSmart. I ended up having to use a USB reciever that came with the replacement keyboard/mouse. Now, i am struggling with a remapping issue. I am unable to log into office pc via Citrix Remote desktop. I can access the other Citrix apps, but the remote desktop generates a password error. I do not have the issue when I use my laptop.
I am ready to trash the HP keyboard. I get the skipps and doubles periodically too. Do the other wireless keyboards require the use of an external usb receiver or can the internal one pick them up? Would Blue tooth devices make be worth the extra investment? ThaNKS... |

Yea. i have the exact same issues. I had 2 family computers although I mainly useed the IQ770 and the keyboard quality sucked, ever couple of days it said to change the battery, even though they were brand new and it inputs characters twice and sometimes no matter what you do it doesn't work. nothings interfering with it because now I got the Hp Pavillion m7690n in my room and the Iq770 in my sis's room. Every now and then since she is a bit dumb i install updates for both computers and do everything but both of us complain about the keyboard. I have an e-machines keyboard that i am hoping will work on the iq770, but only problem- NO KEYBOARD PORT so one and for all;
TOUCHSMART KEYBOARDS ARE NOT THAT GOOD FOR THEY FREEZE MUCH TOO OFTEN, HOWEVER HP PAVILLION ONES ARE GREAT! Oh and LOGITECH ones! |

I have asked HP to replace my iq770 keyboard because keys have never worked reliably. They refuse. The HP parts store says a new model keyboard is due in about a week. But I'll have to buy it. Any thoughts? |

I too have had intermittent problems with the bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I think HP should do something to replace them. I do not understand a company as big as HP that will not stand by their customers. |

Has anyone found a way around the lousy keyboard issues? I have to hold my keyboard up 3 to 4 inches on the left to make it work at all...I'm typing this comment with one hand since I have to use my left hand to hold the keyboard up... |

Called several times (10-12) about the same issue plus many more with this computer. They have sent me 3 Keyboards and my last call was the week the warranty was to expire. Customer Service was supposed to be "getting in touch with manager" and they were supposed to call me back. Never heard anything. When I called back the following week I was told "sorry your computer is out of warranty". HP WILL NOT FIX it! They have only wasted countless hours of my time and then told me to restore to factory settings losing all my data and "it should work". The only other solution was to pay to send my PC to them and they could reset everything but they would not replace it. I paid $1,700 at Best Buy not only for computer that doesnt work most of the time but also did not come with Outlook!! What a ripoff!! HP KNOWS they have this issue but refuses to warranty the product. |

I wish I had seen this earlier but it hasnt been that much time I will let you know this, HP policy as well as probly most any warranty is that the warranty extends until they fix the problem so you probly need to do some good yelling and remind them of their policy as well any warrantys policy for that matter.Maybe a lawyer needs to remind them? ask them that, and keep calling and you will get someone in Cali and not Mumbi India. |
