Hi all I have 2 problems with my HP LJ 1010, as you can see on the following page:http://ocroquette.fr/a/hp/lp1010-lr.jpg (also attached) 1. there is a ghost print (for example the zebra appears twice) 2. there are some dark/dirty areas (for example at the top) What could be the cause for that? Would a new toner solve the issues? I really don't want to spend $60 for nothing! Thanks for you help! Olivier

Definitely try replacing the toner cartridge first as that is most likely the problem. The ghosting is usually because there is a problem with the light-sensitive drum in the printer. Old residue from pages you already printed is 'wiped' off the drum before itâs ready for a new page. The drum in this case (as with most HP printers) is in the toner cartridge so replacing the cartridge also replaces the drum.

Thanks for the info! What I find very strange is that the problem appeared overnight.

I have just hit the same thing this week. Hasn't happened in the 2 years I have had (minimal usage) the LJ 1012 (not near window, etc). Looks like your picture but even more pronounced. Replacing the toner is an expensive option if that isn't it :( Wish there was some better troubleshooting/cleaning this printer could do....

In any case a new toner has solved my problem here.
