Hi,

My printer uses #10 cartridges its a large format 2500c. I've never used anything other thatn HP cartridges, and no refills but after replacing a yello cartridge on a low ink reading the computer refses to recogonize a new cartridge. HP support told me it was a faulty cartridge so I returned that one for a new one and same think. I know HP uses kill chips in the print heads of this machine but how do i get it to realize that a new unused cartridge has replaced the old empty one?

A lot of times when a printhead is not seen by the printer it is because of dirty contacts in the carriage assembly. Turn off the printer and remove the printhead and using a damp lint free cloth, clean the contacts inside the carriage assembly for the color in question and see if that helps. Let it dry, put the new printhead back in and turn on the printer. Fingers crossed!

I guess I wasn't too clear... my fault. the printher was printing fin but gave me a low ink yellow cartridge message. The cartridge resivoire is separtate from the print heads. I put in a new cartridge and it said zero ink. I put in another new cartridge from a different vendor and it said o ink and didn't recognize that iether cartridge was new.I hate to keep buying cartridgesa at $55 a pop for no result.

Sorry did not realize you meant the ink tank. What happens if you put the original low ink yellow tank back in. Does it still say zero or do you get the low ink message. If the low ink message, then the tanks you are using have to be bad. If the old one says 0 now, then you may have an issue and use the link below to download the manual and see if there is anything in it to help you. Will only be up for 7 days.

HP Support tells me that the printer is faulty but it was working up until I put a new y ink tank in. My guess is its their "kill" chip technology that's at fault. HP say's it will cost me $400 usd to fix it. The printer should be good for 100k copies... I've spent $1500 for the printer $400 on print heads, $800 on ink at last count it did 6k copies. That's nearly 50 cents a copy! period end of story!

I have been reading the post on the 2500c printer.
Your printer cost & supplies seem very high
3 years ago I purchased a brand new 2500 complete un-opened on e-bay. about $300.00
I had been running the 2000c model & when just one of the heads or tanks were low, the machine could not tell you!
Switching the total of 8 consumables one at a time until you hit the right combination was terrible!
.I love this 2500c, just hate the date chips.
I registered this brand new printer & did not notice where HP would download new software & shut it down! When I tracked down why it ran great one day & the next ng. my firewall records showed the download & install.
I called HP tech on this & was told when the cartridges are out of date the printer would be damaged & the warranty would be void.
When I asked about the warranty I was told the machine was to old for coverage, even as it was brand new.
.As this made no sense, I repeated the statement. HP shut the machine down to protect it from old ink & damage or the warranty would be void. At the same time I was told there was no warranty due to age! What difference did it make? I owned it!
If I broke it this was my problem!
.What do you expect when the call was taken in India.
Ever solve a problem from there?
