hey all
i have a question related to OVIS (Internet Services) and VuGen. Since there are some OVIS user in here as well i thought why not post here.
I have a OVIS 6.20 environment with remote probe machine where my VuGen script are supposed to be executed.
i have created a few scripts which are running very well (in VuGen, on the OVIS management server).
now i want to run these scripts on the remote probe PC. so i have configured OVIS the way it is supposed to be and i can see that the scripts are being started on the remote probe machine.
OVIS calls for mmdrv.exe on the remote probe machine to run the scripts. but in my case it seems like mmdrv.exe is not running on my box.
when i try to start the script manually with mmdrv.exe i'm getting the following error message:
Title:
C:\Program Files\HP\LoadRunner\bin\mmdrv.exe
Text:
C:\Program Files\HP\LoadRunner\bin\mmdrv.exe is not a vaild Win32 application
so mmdrv.exe is not running manually nor when it is called by the scheduled job within OVIS.
i have reinstalled OVIS Remote Probe on this machine and VuGen as well. but without any success.
any ideas from you folks ????
many thanks

Hello,
We use Loadrunner 8 with OVIS. During installing on remote probe we select custom installation and install only VuGen module.
Not sure if you are doing that. try executing mmdrv.exe directly from folder by double clicking. If it gives you error popup then try from command prompt.

thank you very much for your reply in this matter. i'm running mmdrv.exe from command prompt with or without any options with the same result the above error message.
i'll have to check on the loadrunner version.
what surprises me is that mdrv.exe works without any problem.
i might have to log a case with HP support for this one |

mmdrv is a wrapper for mdrv. It is used for some protocols (e.g. Web HTTP/HTML for my best knowledge) for better memory usage. Actually mmdrv doing some memory optimization and invokes mdrv.
You can try invoke your script by using mdrv. I would also suggest compare checksum of mmdrv on hosts where it is running and where not. You could try to reinstall LR on the host where mmdrv is not running.

what is the configuration of your remote probe? I believe this problem more to be VuGen installation. Were you able to open the VuGen GUI and record a dummy script on the remote probe? If yes then HP case is a good option else try the same setup on different location.
Hope this is of some help. |

thanks again for your replies!
Sergey: correct i'm using a http/citrix combined script in this case. i was able to successfully run the script by starting it manually from the command line with mdrv.exe -usr <path to script> i think i'll give it a try and reinstall VuGen (LoadRunner) and the OVIS remote problem component on my machine. Right now i'm only running the script an a test environment with one remote probe machine before i put anything to the production environment.
Pradeep: Yes VuGen itself seems to work just fine on the remote probe PC. based on your comments i think i'll try to get a clean installation and see from there. otherwise it will be the HP case then.
thanks for your help folks !

hello Raj
the solution for me was to remove the username and password from the "Run As User" section in my service target. as simple as that now i can execute the scripts without any problem.
this was the suggested solution from the HP support case engineer assigned to my case. even though i have to admit that i was skeptic in the beginning it did the trick for me.
i hope it helps you as well
cheers, tibor |
